Blencowe Resources has just completed all major infrastructure deliverables for its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) at the Orom-Cross graphite project in Uganda. This development represents a significant step forward in de-risking the project and reinforces its potential as a low-cost, ESG-friendly graphite producer.

Blencowe Resources continues to de-risk its flag-ship Orom-Cross graphite project in Uganda having just completed all major infrastructure milestones that form part of the overall Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS).  In addition, the recent 6,750m drilling campaign—the largest in Blencowe’s history—has exceeded expectations with initial assay results due shortly.

Infrastructure Milestones Achieved

  • Power: Two new substations now connect the site to Uganda’s hydropower grid, providing reliable, low-cost, renewable electricity. This infrastructure lays the groundwork for producing "green graphite"—a major plus for ESG-driven buyers.

  • Road Access: A UK Government-backed upgrade of the Kitgum–Kidepo road will create sealed access to the site and a direct logistics link to Kenyan ports—boosting scalability and reducing transport bottlenecks.

  • Site Support: Infrastructure for water, communications, and worker accommodations are being installed, including the first permanent camp. Rail connectivity from Gulu is also under consideration to further enhance logistics.

DFS Outlook & Drilling Update

The Orom-Cross Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) had already established industry-leading capital cost estimates. Thanks to the completed infrastructure, the DFS is expected to reinforce those figures, enabling lower upfront costs, accelerated timelines, and reduced debt requirements.

The recent 6,750 m drilling campaign—the largest in Blencowe’s history—has exceeded expectations. Initial assay results are expected soon and are anticipated to underpin a material upgrade to the JORC Mineral Resource, including an exciting new deposit at Beehive.

Strategic Implications

This milestone achieves several critical objectives:

  • De-risking: With major infrastructure in place, the project moves beyond preliminary planning and into the realm of development readiness.

  • ESG Credentials: Access to hydropower and sustainable infrastructure positions Orom-Cross as a supplier of environmentally responsible graphite.

  • Cost Leadership: Low capital investment and strong logistics infrastructure suggest attractive economics and faster project ramp-up.

  • Resource Growth: The imminent assay results could materially expand the project’s scale and appeal to offtake partners.

What’s Next?

  • Delivery of assay results and JORC Resource update

  • Finalisation and publication of the DFS completion date

  • Progression toward further offtake agreements, project financing, and eventual construction start

Blencowe Resources' announcement today marks a pivotal advancement for the Orom-Cross graphite project, a project of global-significance given its size and the dominance of China in this key critical mineral.

With infrastructure largely in place, drilling exceeding expectations, and ESG credentials strengthened, the project is shaping up as one of the lowest-capex and fastest-to-market graphite developments worldwide.

Stay tuned to see how the upcoming assay and DFS results translate into further value for Blencowe and its stakeholders.
