Talon Resources Hits High-Grade Gold at Eagle Lake - includes: 8.75m at 5.05 g/t
AI Targeting Receives an Encouraging Early Test

Talon Resources has delivered an encouraging start to its maiden drilling campaign at Eagle Lake in Ontario, with preliminary assays returning a standout 21.25m at 2.19 g/t gold, including 8.75m at 5.05 g/t at Cedar Trench. The results also provide early support for the company's AI-assisted exploration targeting, with the majority of drill assays still to come before the end of 2026.

The drill bit is beginning to deliver at Talon Resources' (AIM:TAR) Eagle Lake Gold Project in Ontario, Canada.

Following encouraging surface exploration results earlier this year, Talon has now reported the first preliminary assays from its maiden diamond drilling campaign, confirming gold mineralisation below surface across more than one target area.

The standout result comes from Cedar Trench, where drilling intersected 21.25 metres grading 2.19 g/t gold, including a higher-grade section of 8.75 metres at 5.05 g/t.

For a newly listed exploration company undertaking its first drilling programme, these are encouraging early results, particularly given that the majority of assay results remain outstanding.

Key Highlights

  • 21.25m at 2.19 g/t Au, including 8.75m at 5.05 g/t Au, at Cedar Trench.
  • Higher-grade sections include 0.93m at 15.10 g/t and 1.25m at 17.08 g/t Au.
  • Second Cedar Trench hole returned 33.35m at 0.61 g/t Au, including 4.55m at 1.83 g/t.
  • Gold mineralisation also intersected at East Fornieri Bay.
  • Cedar Trench was the highest-ranked target identified by MINML's PRISM machine-learning platform.
  • Majority of assays from the 12-hole, 1,169m programme expected by the end of 2026.
  • Results will help refine geological modelling and guide further exploration planned for spring 2027.

Cedar Trench Delivers the Standout Result

The most significant result comes from drill hole EG-26-07 at Cedar Trench, where Talon intersected a substantial interval of gold mineralisation.

The hole returned:

21.25 metres at 2.19 g/t gold, including:

  • 8.75m at 5.05 g/t Au
  • 0.93m at 15.10 g/t Au
  • 1.25m at 17.08 g/t Au

The same hole also intersected a separate interval of 11.57m at 0.85 g/t Au, including 0.60m at 4.67 g/t Au.

These results are particularly interesting because they demonstrate gold mineralisation over meaningful downhole lengths, with higher-grade sections occurring within the broader mineralised intervals.

A second hole at Cedar Trench, EG-26-06, returned 33.35m at 0.61 g/t Au, including 4.55m at 1.83 g/t.

Although these are early results, the combination of broader mineralised intervals and narrower high-grade sections provides useful information about the gold system Talon is exploring.

Importantly, the reported intervals represent drill-core lengths rather than confirmed true widths. Further geological interpretation will be needed to establish the geometry and continuity of mineralisation.

East Fornieri Bay Adds Further Encouragement

Cedar Trench may have delivered the headline result, but Talon has also reported gold mineralisation at East Fornieri Bay.

Hole EG-26-03, for which all assays have been received, intersected five separate mineralised intervals, including:

  • 0.50m at 6.86 g/t Au
  • 2.99m at 0.70 g/t Au

Meanwhile, hole EG-26-01 returned 5.80m at 0.54 g/t Au, including 1.10m at 1.68 g/t Au.

These results are more modest than those reported at Cedar Trench, but they demonstrate that gold mineralisation has been encountered in more than one area of the Eagle Lake property.

That is important for the broader exploration story.

Rather than focusing entirely on a single occurrence, Talon is investigating several gold-bearing targets across a property that has historically seen relatively limited systematic exploration.

The full assay dataset will help determine which areas warrant the greatest attention in subsequent drilling.

AI Targeting Receives an Encouraging Early Test

One of the more interesting aspects of Talon's exploration strategy has been its partnership with MINML and the application of the company's proprietary PRISM machine-learning platform.

As covered in our previous SmallCapPix article, PRISM was used alongside conventional geological interpretation to analyse exploration data and rank potential gold targets across Eagle Lake.

Cedar Trench emerged as the highest-ranked target, scoring at the 99.9th percentile in the property's prospectivity model.

It is therefore encouraging that Cedar Trench has now delivered the strongest preliminary drill intercept reported to date.

This provides an early positive indication for the targeting approach and what makes the approach interesting is the feedback process.

The new drill results will be incorporated into MINML's platform, providing additional geological information that can help refine future targeting decisions.

As more assays become available, the company should be able to build a clearer picture of the mineralised structures and identify where follow-up drilling may be most productive.

Eagle Lake's Exploration Story Moves Forward

Since Talon's AIM admission, the Eagle Lake story has progressed through several important stages.

Initial exploration focused on confirming historical gold occurrences and identifying areas suitable for drilling.

Phase 1 channel sampling subsequently delivered encouraging results, including 1.85m at 7.17 g/t Au, with a higher-grade section of 0.50m at 24.40 g/t Au at East Fornieri Bay.

Those results prompted Talon to accelerate and expand its maiden drilling programme.

The maiden drilling campaign comprised 12 holes totalling 1,169 metres, with preliminary results now emerging from selected sections of drill core submitted for rapid assay.

Now, with the first assays arriving, the exploration programme is beginning to provide information about mineralisation beneath the surface.

The standout Cedar Trench intercept represents an encouraging development, particularly as Talon looks to establish whether the mineralisation encountered can be followed along strike and at depth.

However, it remains early in the exploration process. The company has not yet established a mineral resource, and the scale and continuity of the gold system remain to be determined.

Upcoming Catalysts

Talon has outlined a clear sequence of work following these preliminary results.

Remaining Drill Assays — Q4 2026

The majority of laboratory results are expected by the end of 2026. These will provide a more complete picture of mineralisation encountered during the maiden programme.

Geological Interpretation and AI Model Refinement

The full assay dataset will be incorporated into MINML's PRISM platform to refine Talon's geological understanding and future exploration targets.

Further Exploration — Spring 2027

The company expects additional exploration and drill planning in spring 2027, informed by the maiden drilling results.

The SmallCapPix Take

For Talon Resources, this is an encouraging first set of drilling results and an important milestone in the development of the Eagle Lake story.

The standout 21.25m at 2.19 g/t gold, including 8.75m at 5.05 g/t, is an impressive early intercept, particularly given that it comes from Cedar Trench, the highest-ranked target identified by MINML's AI-assisted prospectivity model.

The presence of gold mineralisation in other drill holes adds further encouragement, although the remaining assays will be essential in understanding the wider geological picture.

What makes this update particularly interesting is the progression from historical exploration and high-grade surface samples to encouraging drill intercepts beneath the surface.

With most laboratory results still outstanding and further exploration planned for spring 2027, Talon now has an opportunity to build on these early results and establish whether Eagle Lake hosts a more extensive gold system.

The first drill results have provided encouragement. The next batch will help determine just how significant that early success could become.
